With Eye On China, N. Korea, Gates Urges Japanese Defense Cooperation

Visiting U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has called for more defense cooperation with Japan, including plans to deal with regional contingencies, reports the Voice of America News.

On Thursday, Gates met with Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara and Defense Minister Toshimi Kitazawa in Tokyo.
