The U.S. has decided to expand the Green Zone security district in Kabul, the Afghan capital, as part of a long-term plan, reports the New York Times.
The new zone will reportedly include the Kabul City Compound military base, formerly the headquarters for U.S. special operations forces in the area.
The Green Zone is separated from the rest of the city by a network of police, military and private security checkpoints.
