Export Disagreement Scuttles U.S. Missile Collaboration

A joint research project between Japan and the United States to develop software for ship-based ballistic missile defense systems has been terminated over export disagreements, reports the Asahi Shimbun.

The Japanese government insisted that the U.S. obtain prior consent before selling the software to a third country, according to unnamed sources. The U.S. government has reportedly decided to continue with the program alone.
