A bomb exploded Friday in a crowded Thai market in the Chana district of the southern Narathiwat province, Reuters reports.
Five people were killed and at least 10 injured in the explosion, said police.
The incident took place after suspected Muslim rebels robbed and assaulted a shop owner, said officials. When police arrived to investigate, the bomb was set off.
