E.U. Makes Preliminary Agreement To Suspend Most Sanctions

The European Union has decided to suspend most of its sanctions against Burma (Myanmar) in recognition of recent political and economic reforms, Reuters reports.

Only the arms embargo will remain in effect, said diplomatic sources.

The final decision is expected to be made formally next week during a meeting by E.U. foreign ministers in Luxembourg, the diplomats said.
