E.U. Cuts Off Backing For Peacekeepers

The European Union has suspended funding for the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia over delays in accounting for past spending, according to Uganda's defense minister, as cited by the Daily Monitor (Kampala, Uganda).

The E.U. financial freeze has left Ugandan and Burundian peacekeepers in Somalia without operational allowances for the last three months.

Ugandan Defense Minister Crispus Kiyonga said he expects the issue will be resolved in the near future.
