NATO officials say the United States and the alliance are trying to revamp a major treaty on conventional weapons in Europe, the New York Times reports.
The Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe, signed in 1990, set limits on deployments of weaponry between the Atlantic Ocean and the Ural Mountains. Russia withdrew from the treaty in December 2007.
NATO officials said they hope that progress made on conventional disarmament will lead to progress on nuclear disarmament. ...
