E. Coast Squadron Deploys For Last Time With Orions

A Jacksonville-based U.S. Navy patrol squadron is in line to become the last on the U.S. East Coast to deploy with the P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, reports the Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville).

Patrol Squadron 26 (VP-26), which has been operating the Orion for nearly 50 years, was set to deploy Thursday to El Salvador and Bahrain.

When it returns in the fall, the unit will begin making the transition from the P-3C to the P-8A Poseidon.
