E. African Leaders Urge More Peacekeepers For Somalia

A summit of East African leaders has called for 20,000 more troops to be deployed in Somalia to support the transitional federal government, AllAfrica.com reports.

The leaders of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), meeting in Ethiopia, also announced that they would immediately boost the number of African Union peacekeepers in Somalia by 2,000, bringing that mission to its authorized strength of 8,100.
