Violence both among Mexican drug gangs and between criminals and law enforcement is on the rise this year, reports the Voice of America News.
The recorded homicides in Mexico during the first six months of 2016 were up 15 percent over the same period in 2015.
Experts attribute the increase to the imprisonment of Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman, which led to infighting for his replacement.
