A senior leader of Al-Qaida has been killed in an apparent U.S. drone strike in Yemen, say Yemeni officials cited by CNN.
A report by the BBC and other outlets said Nasir al-Wuhayshi was killed Friday in Mukalla, the capital of the southeastern Hadramawt province. However, U.S. officials confirmed to Reuters that the attack occurred on Tuesday.
He was the leader of Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), a post he assumed in 2009, noted Reuters.
