An apparent U.S. drone has struck a militant hideout in northwest Pakistan, reports Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
The unmanned aircraft fired missiles at the Shawal area of the North Waziristan tribal region on Wednesday, said local Pakistani officials.
At least 16 militants were reported killed.
Officials said a fortress-like compound was destroyed and indicated that the death toll would likely rise, reported the BBC.
