State media in Iran say that an Iranian domestic rocket has carried a satellite into orbit for the second time, reports the New York Times.
The launched of the domestically built satellite took place Wednesday, Iran's Arabic language al-Alam television reported.
The first Iranian satellite was launched into orbit in February 2009.
Western aerospace experts have said the Rasad-1 (Observation-1) satellite could also be used for limited military reconnaissance.
