The Pentagon has confirmed the death of a high-ranking Al-Qaida leader in an October airstrike in Afghanistan.
Farouq al-Qahtani al-Qatani, Al-Qaida's leader for northeastern Afghanistan, was killed in a precision strike on Oct. 23 in Kunar province, said a DoD spokesman on Friday.
Qahtani had ties with former leader Osama Bin Laden and had been operating in Afghanistan since 2009. He was one of Al-Qaida's "senior plotters of attacks against the United State," the spokesman...
