Disposal Begins Of Old Scud Missiles, With Aid From U.S.

Ukraine says it has begun disposing of some old Scud missiles with the assistance of the United States, reports Interfax-AVN (Russia).

The 9K72 Scuds were decommissioned in 1997 and have since been stored at the 48th Arsenal in the Vinnytsya region, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

The U.S. has provided US$2 million to fund the disposal, which is being performed by Ukraine's Spivdruzhnist company under the supervision of Global Offshore Projects, said the...
