Devices To Be Worn To Study Effects Of Explosions

The U.S. Army has decided to send blast gauges to Afghanistan this summer to gather data on the energy that soldiers' bodies absorb in combat, reports Defense News.

About 1,000 gauges will be worn on body armor under a plan authorized by Gen. Peter Chiarelli, the Army vice chief of staff.

Army leaders want to provide more data to doctors for research into the brain and the effects of combat on troops diagnosed with traumatic brain injury.
