Details Needed Of Russian MiG Crash, Say Indian Officials

India has halted its purchases of fighters from Russia pending an investigation of a fatal crash last week, Defense News reports.

A MiG-29K trainer crashed on June 23 in south Russia, killing its two-member crew and prompting Russian officials to ground the whole fleet.

India ordered 16 MiG-29Ks for US$650 million in 2004, plus 29 additional fighters in early 2010 for US$1.5 billion. The aircraft are intended to be used on future aircraft carriers.
