Destroyer Spruance Set For Christening

The U.S. Navy's newest Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, the Spruance (DDG-111), will be christened on Saturday at Bath Iron Works in Maine, the Navy Times reports.
Named for Adm. Raymond Spruance, a key commander at the 1942 Battle of Midway, the destroyer is the 61st ship of the class.
It is the second U.S. warship to carry the name; the first with the name was the lead ship of the Spruance class of destroyers that served from 1973 to 2005.
