Destroyer Shoots Down Missile During Hawaii Test

A Japanese destroyer successfully shot down a ballistic missile target during a joint test at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility in Hawaii, reports Raytheon, the builder of the missile used in the trial.
The JS Myoko (DDG-175) detected and tracked the target before firing an SM-3 Block IA interceptor, according to Japanese and U.S. authorities.
This was the third such test for Japan.
