Designs Sought For Space Fence Surveillance Radars

The U.S. Air Force Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., has awarded a pair of design contracts to Lockheed Martin and Raytheon for the Space Fence program, according to Military & Aerospace Electronics.

The contracts, each worth $107 million, cover preliminary designs for the Space Fence S-band radar system to detect orbiting space objects.
