Defense Secretary Robert Gates says that he has recommended to President Barack Obama that he nominate Army Gen. Martin Dempsey to be the next Army chief of staff, according to Defense News
Dempsey, 58, commander of Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), has been selected to replace Gen. George Casey, who is due to retire in April.
