The German Defense Ministry has submitted a request for funding for the next phase of the multinational Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program, reports Defense News.
The budget and defense committees of the Bundestag are scheduled to review the request this week.
The 4.5 billion euro (US$5.3 billion) request covers research and technology development, dubbed Phase 1b and Phase 2, from 2021 to 2027, with the goal of beginning test flights within that period.
