Defense Ministry May Replace SAM System

The Finnish Ministry of Defense is looking at possible replacements of its Russian-built SA-11 Gadfly surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, Defense News reports.
Finland received 18 Gadfly systems in 2006 in a barter arrangement for Soviet-era debt. The SAM systems are halfway through their life cycle.
The ministry is considering several NATO-standard SAM replacements, including the Norwegian-Kongsberg NASAMS and the French-Italian SAMP/T system, said officials.
