The Defense Ministry in the Netherlands has decided to acquire new heavy-lift helicopters from the U.S., reports Flight International.
Plans call for purchasing 14 new CH-47F Chinook helicopters and upgrading the air force's six existing aircraft. The service will also retire its 10 aging CH-47D Chinooks, say Dutch officials.
The helicopters will be bought as part of the U.S. Army's second multi-year procurement phase, including the common avionics architecture system.
