Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi has emphasized his government’s determination to defend Tokyo’s claims over the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, reports CNN.
In an interview, Kishi said that the Senkakus, known as the Diaoyu Islands by China, are indisputably Japanese territory and would be defended as such.
"Against Chinese action to Senkaku Islands and other parts of the East China Sea ... we have to demonstrate that the government of Japan is resolutely defending...
