The Australian Dept. of Defense has signed an Aus$100 million (US$73 million) contract with Thales for the production of assault rifles and associated equipment, reports the defense firm.
The deal covers F90 rifles, grenade launchers, spare parts and ancillary equipment that will be produced at the Thales facility in Lithgow, New South Wales, according to a company release on Tuesday.
The Lithgow facility will produce 30,000 rifles and 2,500 SL40 grenade launchers.
