Defense Chief Plans Stinger Purchase From U.S.

Latvia has plans to purchase Stinger surface-to-air missiles from the United States, reports LSM, Latvia's public broadcaster.

Negotiations will begin next year, said Lt. Gen. Raimonds Graube, the defense chief. The exact number and cost has not been agreed upon yet, said Graube on Friday in an interview.

The Stingers are likely to be stationed at a military base in Adazi, near Riga, he said.
