Defector Alleges He Was Ordered To Shoot Unarmed Civilians

A Syrian army conscript who defected last month says he was ordered to shoot unarmed civilians while in the southern city of Deraa, reports the Guardian (U.K.).

The Syrian was interviewed by the paper at a safe house in Turkey.

The 20-year-old defector, called Wasid, said he was deployed in late April with the 14th Division in the southern city.
