Decision Made To Reduce Conscription Term

The German government has moved to reduce compulsory military and alternative civilian service from nine months to six months, reports Deutsche Welle.
An agreement to shorten mandatory terms was reached this week by the partners in the coalition government, the Christian Democrat and Free Democrat parties.
The conscription term for those German males drafted at age 19 is expected to be reduced to six months, with an option to voluntarily extend active duty.
