Scores of people were killed and injured in recent ethnic clashes in southern Sudan, according to the latest government figures cited by Agence France-Presse.
The Berti and Hausa ethnic groups fought on July 11 in Blue Nile state. On July 16, Sudanese troops were deployed to the region to stop the fighting and “the situation is now calm,” Health Minister Jamal Nasser said on Wednesday.
At least 105 people were killed and 291 wounded in the fighting, said Nasser.
