The Philippine military says the death toll from the fighting in Marawi City has gone beyond 500, reports the Rappler (Philippines).

President Rodrigo Duterte has indicated that fighting between government forces and militants may last another two weeks, reports the Philippine Inquirer.

Fighting began on May 23 in the city in Mindanao after government forces attempted to arrest Abu Sayyaf leader Insilon Hapilon.
