Deal Inked With German Firm For New Subs

German shipbuilder Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) says it has signed a contract with Israel for new conventional submarines.

On Thursday, the Israeli Ministry of Defense and TKMS signed an agreement on the technical content and contractual provisions for three planned Dakar-class submarines, TKMS said in a press release.

The Dakar class will be of a completely new design specifically engineered to meet the Israeli navy’s operational requirements, according to the shipbuilder....
