NATO is set to activate a force integration unit (NFIU) in Lithuania on Aug. 1, reports the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
The NATO unit will be headed by Danish army Col. Jakob Sogard Larsen. Lithuanian army Lt. Col. Mindaugas Petkevicius will serve as his deputy.
Larsen currently serves as the chief of logistics operations at the NATO Headquarters Multi-National Corps North East in Poland.
