The U.S. Cyber Command, a subordinate unit of U.S. Strategic Command, officially stood up on Friday at Fort Meade, Md., the Navy Times reports.
The command is expected to be fully operational this October, according to the Air Force.
Army Gen. Keith Alexander, director of the National Security Agency, will also head the new command. He received his fourth star on Friday just prior to the command's activation.
