Cumberland Frigate Retires After 22 Years

June 27 2011

United Kingdom

The British Royal Navy has decommissioned a frigate during a ceremony in Plymouth, reports the Plymouth Herald.

The Cumberland lowered her ensign Friday for the last time after 22 years of service.

The Royal Navy is decommissioning all four of its Cornwall-class (or Type 22) frigates under last year's strategic defense review.
