A Russian attack helicopter crashed Tuesday in Dagestan in the North Caucasus region, reports Interfax-AVN.
The Mi-24 was on a planned flight when it hit a mountain slope with its main rotor and crashed into a gorge near the village of Botlikh, military officials said.
The helicopter caught fire on impact and was completely destroyed. The crew ejected safely, said officials.
An investigation into the incident is expected.
