The European Union has added 17 Syrian government ministers and the governor of the central bank to its sanctions blacklist, reports Agence France-Presse.
The travel bans and asset freezes made Monday were in response to the "violent repression against the civilian population in Syria, benefiting from or supporting the regime, and/or being associated with such persons," said a statement by the Council of the European Union.
