Costs Rise Over Early Projections For Arctic Patrol Ships

The Canadian government has finalized a deal with Irving Shipbuilding of Halifax, Nova Scotia, to build Arctic patrol ships, reports the Chronicle Herald (Halifax).
The construction of six ships will cost Can$2.3 billion (US$1.9 billion), up from the initially planned cost of Can$2.1 billion (US$1.8 billion).
The whole project is estimated at Can$3.5 billion (US$2.9 billion), instead of Can$3.1 billion (US$2.6 billion), reported the Canadian Press.
