The Marine Corps is considering ordering a new sniper rifle with a range of 1,500 meters, the Marine Corps Times reports.
The Sniper Rifle-21st Century (SR21) program was developed in conjunction with a similar program launched by Special Operations Command last month.
Marine officials said they are watching SOCOM's Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR) competition while finalizing requirements for their version of the weapon.
