Documents from Canada's Dept. of Defense reveal that the fleet of Cormorant search-and-rescue helicopters supposed to cover large areas of the country will remain unavailable due to ongoing problems, reports the Ottawa Citizen.
The region in question stretches from the prairies to Quebec, and includes the Northwest Territories and much of Nunavut, or some 386,000 square miles (1 million square km). Helicopter use was temporarily suspended in 2005.
