Lawmakers have passed legislation that loosens the limits on Japan's pacifist constitution and lifts some restrictions on the military, reports CNN.
The measure that passed Saturday, 148-90, by the upper chamber of Parliament authorizes the Self-Defense Forces to provide limited defense for allies abroad.
