The keel has been laid for the eighth Carlo Bergamini-class European multi-mission frigate (FREMM) for the Italian navy, reports the European Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR).
The FREMM has been jointly developed by Italy and France.
The milestone took place on July 12 at the Riva Trigoso shipyard, said an OCCAR release last week.
First steel for the ship was cut on Feb. 25, 2015.
