Germany will likely draft its last conscripts next summer, Defense News reports.
Delegates of the ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) have approved a motion to end the draft.
The CDU, the dominant force in the coalition, was the final party in the government to vote against conscription. All opposition parties have also come out in opposition to maintaining conscription.
The draft will remain part of Germany's basic law and could be reintroduced in the future.
