A U.S. lawmaker says restrictions on military assistance to Nigeria will soon be relaxed or removed, reports the News Agency of Nigeria.
The U.S. Dept. of State and Dept. of Defense have been prohibited, under provisions of the Leahy Act, from providing high-tech military support to Nigeria because it has been accused of human-rights violations.
Nigeria has been battling Boko Haram Islamists for years.
