Commissioning Ceremony Held For Rafael Peralta Destroyer

The U.S. Navy has just commissioned its newest Arleigh Burke-class destroyer at Naval Air Station North Island, Calif., reports the Dept. of Defense.

The ceremony was set for Saturday in San Diego.

The destroyer honors Marine Corps Sgt. Rafael Peralta, who was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during the second battle of Fallujah in 2004, in which he is credited with saving the lives of fellow Marines.
