The U.S. Air Force's 353rd Special Operations Group at Kadena Air Base, Japan, has received its first MC-130J transport, reports the U.S. Air Force.
The MC-130J Commando II is replacing the retiring MC-130P Combat Shadow assigned to the group's 17th Special Operations Squadron.
The aircraft will conduct the same missions as their predecessors, but at a reduced cost to the Air Force, said Maj. Matthew Bartlett, the 17th SOS operations officer.
