Combat Operations End, New Mission Begins In Iraq

The United States has officially declared an end to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and begun Operation New Dawn, a military assistance mission to Iraq.
President Barack Obama, in a nationally televised address Tuesday night, said the Iraqi people are now in charge of security for their country, the Daily Telegraph (U.K.) reports.
The president called on that nation's leaders to form a government. There has been a political deadlock in Iraq since March elections.
