Canada has deployed a new air wing with helicopters to Kandahar province in Afghanistan, the Canadian Press reports.
The Joint Task Force (Afghanistan) Air Wing is comprised of four units and approximately 450 personnel, said Canadian military officials.
The new wing will allow Canadian ground forces in Afghanistan to rely less on road travel, which has proven dangerous due to improvised explosives.
