Coastal Forces Given Anti-Piracy Duties

The Somali federal government has developed a new plan to train sailors to counter piracy off the coast of Mogadishu, the Daily Nation (Kenya) reports.
A newly trained naval force with more than 525 men has been assigned to neutralize piracy near the capital's northern coast, said Abdurahman Haji Aden, the deputy prime minister.
African Union peacekeepers are responsible for protecting Mogadishu's southern coastline.
