Coastal Defense Takes On New Importance To Navy

The South Korean navy has begun pulling back from a decade-long emphasis on blue-water operations to refocus on coastal defense against a possible North Korean invasion, reports the Korea Times.
Adm. Kim Sung-chan, the chief of naval operations, recently ordered a strengthening of the service's readiness against North Korean provocations, said a navy spokesman.
Service leaders have agreed on the reordering of priorities, the spokesman said.
